TEXT: “The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.” (Matthew 4:16)
Darkness in scripture often represents ignorance, fear, sin, and hopelessness. Before Christ came, humanity was lost sitting helplessly in spiritual darkness. But Jesus, the Light of the World, appeared, and everything changed.
He did not wait for us to rise and find Him; He came to where we were. Light sprang up suddenly, powerfully, and irresistibly. That is the nature of God’s salvation.
What Does the Light of Christ Bring?
1. Light Brings Revelation “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105) In a world filled with confusion, Jesus gives clarity. His Word shows us the way.
2. Light Brings Deliverance “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dearSon.” (Colossians 1:13) You are no longer a prisoner of fear, sin, or condemnation. Christ has moved you from darkness to His marvelous light. 3. Light Brings Life “In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” (John 1:4) The light of Christ doesn’t just shine, it gives life, joy, and renewal to the weary soul. 4. Light Must Be Reflected “Ye are the light of the world… Let your light so shine before men.” (Matthew 5:14-16) We were saved not only to receive the light but to become carriers of it.
Brethren, no matter how deep your night may seem, the Light has already come. You don’t have to stay in the shadows of fear, guilt, or confusion. Jesus is your dawn; your rising sun.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, thank You for bringing Your light into my darkness. Help me walk in Your truth and shine Your light to others. Let every shadow in my life be replaced with Your glorious presence. Amen. DAILY BIBLE READING MORNING- 2 SAMUEL 5; NIGHT- MATTHEW 6
