TOPIC: RAHAB - PURPOSE OVER SENTIMENT AND AFFILIATION.
                     TEXT: JOSHUA 2 VERSE 1-6,

The passage made us realized there was "a harlot" in Jericho named Rahab. Four things are clear from the passage: 1. That she was a harlot who could be called an outcast and a nobody, 2. She lived and had her family in Jericho, 3. She knew the spies were Israelites (strangers), and 4. That the spies didn't mean well for her country.

So many of us can even teach about this passage, but would your action have been the same if you were in Rahab's shoes? So many of us obviously and with all vigour fight against God's purposes in others today because of sentiment like I don't like him or her, not from my tribe, doesn't speak my language, met me here, younger than me in ages, he is not a member of my church etc, not knowing we are indirectly fighting against GOD. When you fight against the plan of God or what he has scheduled for other to become because of your sentiments, envy or selfish gains you are fighting against GOD. Always remember no one fights against GOD and wins, and no man can stop the purpose of God a d anyone who tries it will pay dearly for it. Today instead of asking if it is the will of God we keep saying why not me? Of God has not purpose you to be there, your being there by force will only bring you disaster and calamity. Let's see the good in others and support them to achieving God's purposes for their lives and by so doing we are also fulfilling God's purposes for ours. Rahab saved her family by her actions and became a partaker of God's promises even when she was not originally meant to be.  FOOD FOR THOUGHT No one fights against GOD and lives. Allow others fulfil their purpose and that guarantees your own fulfilment. Don't allow sentiment and jealousy make you pinch your tent against GOD.
